is better off as an Elseworlds project, allowing the new DC Universe to introduce a comic book-accurate John Constantine in the future. This could start with a role in the upcoming Swamp Thing or a Justice League Dark film.
By not being part of the DCU, Constantine 2 has more creative freedom. However, it also presents a challenge, as DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has set a high quality bar for Elseworlds movies. To get made, Constantine 2 will need to be exceptionally good.
This raises excitement for the long-awaited sequel, as director Francis Lawrence, Keanu Reeves, and writer Akiva Goldsman will need to craft a unique tale to meet Gunn’s standards. With a higher quality bar than DCU projects, Constantine 2 has the potential to be something special.
